Having invested RMB 1.5 billion, Jingzhou has built China’s largest and only wholesale market for freshwater products. After its operation, the project will have a market radiation radius covering more than 1,200 kilometers, with an annual trading capacity of freshwater products exceeding 4 million tons and an annual trading volume of RMB 40 billion. Starting in 2016 and basically completed in 2018, the project will be put into operation in November this year.

In the market, Zhou Jian, who has been engaged in aquatic products processing for more than ten years, is busy checking the inventory of cold storage. This batch of silver carp semi-finished products is about to be sent to Northeast China. As time is pressing, a dozen workers are working ceaselessly to maintain a daily processing capacity of more than 17,500 kg.

As a national key project and a key construction project in Hubei Province, the Jingzhou National Wholesale Market for Freshwater Products is also one of the 15 wholesale markets of agricultural products designated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs in China, covering a total area of 358 mu. Divided into nine functional areas including four major domestic fishes, special breeding,sorting, cold chain, warehousing and logistics, the project park zone will accommodate 300 fixed merchants and 700 seasonal mobile merchants, which is expected to provide up to 20,000 jobs. Currently it is the largest and only national trading center for freshwater products in China.

The Jingzhou National Wholesale Market for Freshwater Products will invest more than RMB 30 million in deploying 11 industry-leading operation management software systems in China, vigorously developing online electronic trading and forward order trading and realizing the operation mode of centralized settlement.
